I’m back to talk about another foundation! This time it’s actually lighter than a foundation. It’s the Mary Kay CC Cream Sunscreen Board Spectrum SPF 15. I have been on a personal mission to find something quick, lightweight and lasting.
I’m not a fan of summertime heat so I want as little on as possible. Tinted moisturizers or CC creams are perfect for this occasion, but with my oily skin it’s a challenge.

First impression
Truth be told, I tried this product at a Mary Kay party for a family friend about a year ago and I HATED it! The idea was great but after an hour of wear my face was glistening. It was like I had been in the gym working up a sweat.
It left me with a horrible impression of the product but I was determined to find something similar. I’ve since tried BareMineral’s Complexion Rescue and Colourpop’s Pretty Fresh to see if this type of product worked for me at all.
Long story short, both turned out pretty well but with proper skincare prep, primer and finishing powder. With this new found information, I gave the Mary Kay CC cream another shot.

Benefits
- Coverage
- SPF
- Finish
And I am so glad I gave it another shot! This product has a beautifully creamy texture and covers the skin wonderfully. The CC cream comes in only five different shades but has claims to cover a wide range of complexions. I use the shade Deep and it blends amazingly well on me.
Mary Kay recommends application with either your fingertips or a beauty sponge. I used my fingertips initially and I noticed the formula is a thicker consistency, but still easy to blend. Normally I don’t like to get my hands covered in makeup but I find there’s very little to remove. I used about a pump and a half to cover my skin as desired.
Something else I really appreciate about this formula is the SPF. We all need sunscreen so it was something I specifically wanted on light makeup days. Complexion Rescue did offer this, but not Pretty Fresh which was disappointing since I preferred the coverage. Summertime means outdoor activities like cookouts, beaches and even exercise so I needed something to protect my skin as well. Mary Kay CC cream to the rescue!
For a lightweight coverage, this CC cream is effective. It claims 8 skin benefits including: correction, concealing and minimizing redness. With one pump coverage, discoloration and minor blemishes were covered and gave my skin a nice healthy look. I think this is my new favorite “your skin but better” product.

This CC cream is ideal for on the go days. As far as the finish, it is a hydrating product so it can look quite luminous. With that being said I think it’s perfect for people with dry and normal skin. While Mary Kay says this product is for all skin types, for oily skin folks like myself it will require a powder to keep it in place! After 3-4 hours of wear, you will need to blot some oil but that’s to be expected for me. All things considered, I enjoy this product.
Has anyone else tried this Mary Kay product? What were your thoughts? Are there similar products you like?
